Is Shopify Legit? What is Shopify?

In simplest terms, Shopify is web software that simplifies the process of running an online store. With Shopify, you can sell virtual products like ebooks, software, courses and applications; you can also sell physical products such as T-shirts, Jewelry, bracelets, etc.

Shopify takes care of all the difficult, technical stuff, such as web design and payment processing, so you can focus on your business.

Shopify Plans

Shopify has very competitive pricing and a range of different plans to choose from, depending on what you need.

Note: Every plan has a monthly price, but you can get a significant discount by pre-paying in yearlong increments. If you purchase a whole year, 2 years, or 3 years up front, you will get a discount of 10%, 20% or 25% respectively.

The Shopify Lite Plan (9$/Month)

This is the cheapest Shopify plan; it is intended for people who already manage a website or a Facebook page or a physical store and only need a payment processor. This plan includes a Buy Now button that can be added to your site; just add the product picture, then add the Shopify snippet to your website and voila!

A List of Shopify Features

If you use a Facebook page to promote your products, you can now add a Shopify Buy Now button right to your page (rather than sending people to another website). No need for a separate online store. People can browse and buy right from your Facebook page.

Shopify Lite is also useful for those who run a physical store. This plan can help you keep track of your inventory and it makes it easy to accept card payments. All you need is a card reader and a computer, tablet, or smartphone.

One really nice feature of this plan is abandoned cart recovery, formerly only available in the Shopify Pro plan. This feature can send emails to customers who have abandoned their cart.

The Shopify Basic Plan(29$/Month)

Shopify basic is intended for people who are in the initial stages of launching an online store. This plan incorporates most of the core Shopify features that make running an online store so easy.

This plan provides 10 free professional themes and more than 60 paid options as well. These themes are completely customizable; however, the default options are already optimized, so beginners need not make any changes.

This plan permits tracking inventory of stores in up to 4 locations.

It also allows has the option to create staff accounts for up to 2 staff members (you can customize the permissions).

The plan also includes analytics, reports that help you track what is working for your store and what is not.

Note: you can add Google analytics and Facebook pixels if you like. This is highly recommended because you can track all kinds of information that will help you optimize your sales.

The basic plan gives includes the ability to add unlimited products.

And of course, the abandoned cart option is available.

One of my favorite features of this plan is the blog page, where you can create posts for your audience. This is a fantastic way be found in the search engines and attract more customers to your store.

The Shopify Plan ($79 / Month)

The Shopify Plan includes all the features of the lower cost plans, but it includes more advanced analytics, and it provides an option for up to 5 staff accounts. It also provides the ability to track inventory for 5 stores.

Perhaps most importantly, the fees per sale are lower.

The Advanced Shopify Plan ($299 / Month)

The Advanced Shopify Plan includes all the features of the lower cost plans, but it but it provides an option for up to 15 staff accounts, and it provides the ability to track inventory for 8 stores. Also, the fees per sale are even lower than the other plans.

The Advanced Plan also provides the ability to calculate third-party shipping rates. This improves ales rates in those areas that are not eligible for Shopify Shipping

The Shopify Plus Plan ($2000 / Month)

Shopify Plus is built for large enterprises with a wide network of stores and staff members. It provides benefits such as unlimited staff accounts, the ability to handle 10,000 transactions per minute, as well as dedicated Shopify Support.

The Shopify 14-Day Trial

Shopify Free Trial - set up your store, pick a plan later

Shopify offers a 14 free day trial to test the system. You don’t even have to enter credit card details; just sign up and you’ll get full access to the system. However, you will not be able to actually sell anything until you sign up for one of the plans.

Pro Tip: If you need more time to try out the system, you can ask for a trial extension. I have personally have had success with this.

Shopify Apps

This is where Shopify really dominates the competition. The system has an app for everything.

Shopify apps are third party applications that add functionality to your Shopify store. The Shopify app store is huge, with a wide variety of apps to choose from.

Do you want currency conversion for your store? Get the currency converter app.

Do you want a countdown timer on your products? Get a countdown timer app.

Do you want the option to upsell your customers? Get an upsell app.

Do you want to add your Instagram feed to your store? Get the Instagram Integration app.

Do you want email marketing for your store? Get an email marketing app.

There is a solution for almost everything you can think of. These apps are a way to add the same functionality that the big boys use.

One of my favorite apps is the Printify app which allows you to integrate your store with a Print on Demand platform.

Payment Options and Transaction Fees

Shopify offers a wide variety of payment options; the main ones are:

  • Stripe
  • PayPal
  • Credit and debit cards
  • Apple Pay
  • Square

This is should just about cover any need you may have.

Shopify’s Customer Support

Shopify’s Customer Support is amazing. Shopify offers 24/7 support via chat, email and phone. Their tutorials are very simple and very easy to navigate.

Shopify’s customer support is much better than its competitor, Wix, which only offers customer support over the phone and through forums, and it is only available during business hours (Shopify customer support is available 24/7).

In Conclusion, Is Shopify Legit?

Is Shopify Legit? Yes. Is Shopify worth it? Yes. I highly recommend Shopify. I have used it myself for two different online stores, and I have never been disappointed. Learn more here.
