How to find the ideal reader for your blog

Finding the ideal reader is essential to write an engaging blog post. Likewise, if you know your ideal customer, you write the most interesting copy for them. Let us see how we can locate the ideal reader of any content and how it helps us to create the best content.

Don’t just create content to get credit for being clever — create content that will be helpful, insightful, or interesting for your target audience.

David Ogilvy

Think who needs it

Does not matter if you are writing a blog post or a copy, you must know who will like to read this. Any information or product seems interesting to someone when they need it. Let us say, Sarah loves gardening and growing flowers.

Sarah will be more interested in gardening blogs than tech blogs. She will also like to buy products related to gardening. So if you are writing about gardening, you know that Sarah is the one to whom you are selling your information or products.

Why do they need it?

We knock google chrome when we are left with some questions and confusions. Likewise, your readers or customers will also knock google for the same reason.

That is why always consider the fact that what is making them read your content.

Let us say, I am writing a blog post about how to tame dogs. Only those people would like to read my content who face difficulty in taming dogs. They are my ideal readers.

How can you help them?

Let us continue with the last example. The people who will come to read my post about taming dogs, they are looking for solutions. If my blog post ignorantly does not give them the solutions as soon as possible, they will never come back.

To address them accurately, the blog post must tell the solutions which can solve their problems. If it is a copy, then it must tell how the product will solve their issue.

Important tools

Some tools can help you find out what people are looking for in a topic. The best one to find ideal readers is Answer the Public. It locates all queries on a topic which people search for. Likewise, you can also try Ubersuggest and Ahref. You can locate what people are searching for and why they need information with these tools.

Bottom line

Finding an ideal reader of your content makes your content much more targeted and optimized. It helps you to talk in a conversational, engaging and persuading narrative with your readers. So always apply this strategy of “Target Audience” before you write.

I like that you included the “how can you help them?” section, as the best blogs are the ones that solve problems.
