This guide will show you some of the best ways to grow your audience on Facebook.
Before you attempt to grow your audience, you need to have your Facebook page set up (and SEO optimized), so the first part of this article will discuss that. Actual methods for growing your audience can be found later in the article.
Facebook has the largest audience among all social media platforms, so is generally very easy to find a niche. I recommend you pick a niche that you are personally involved in, one that you personally enjoy. It is a lot easier to grow an audience in a niche that you actually enjoy, yourself. And it is easier to create content too.
Your Facebook page title needs to be keyword optimized. In other words, your main keyword should probably be right in the title of the page. This will make it easier for people to find your page when searching in Facebook. For example, if you are targeting (European) football fans as in the example below, you definitely want the keyword “football” in your page title.
In fact, this example was the first page that popped up when I searched “football” in Facebook. Had the word “football” not been in the title, the page would not have been suggested.
The about section, mission, and company description will act as meta data descriptions page, so you should use specific “long tail keyword phrases” for these. You can find some good long tail keywords from the website www.answerthepublic.com – just go to the related section:
From the list, we can see that a popular phrase is “football gossip” – from there, you can search go deeper:
From there, you can combine keywords and come up with some great keyword-rich content to put in your meta descriptions. This will make your page far more likely to appear in Facebook searches.
After you get your first 25 likes, Facebook will let you customize your url. You definitely want to do this because it will make your page easier to remember. It will also make your page more likely to be found in google search results. And it looks more professional.
The url of this page is “www.Facebook.com/ifootballplanet”. This is much better than the generic url that Facebook provides by default.
Now that we’ve set up our Facebook page, let’s discuss six methods to get more followers on Facebook.
The first method is to create amazing content. You want people to engage with your content, and you want them to share your content. Providing quality content is one of the core ways to grow your audience.
One way to find some food ideas for quality content is to go to Reddit.com and then find the the Subreddit for that topic. Then look at what is currently trending in that subtopic; you can find some great ideas there and use them to create your own compelling posts.
Pro Tip: Facebook favors videos more than pictures; plus videos start playing automatically in Facebook (unless the user has switched this option off). So you will do well to post a lot of videos if you can.
This is one of the easiest ways to get followers when you are starting out. Find groups with content that is closely related to your niche; the people in these groups will likely be interested in your content.
You should focus on groups that let pages join the group instead of people only; that way if people want more of your content, they can go directly to your page, rather than your profile.
After you have joined the group as your page, the next step is to post quality content in that group. You should not be directly promoting people to like your page as most admins do not allow that.
This method is great for starting out and getting your first followers.
Pro Tip: Do not ask your friends and family to join a group they are not interested in. Facebook will look at the audience and start promoting your page to a similar audience. Also, if you ever purchase ads from Facebook, you may find that Facebook is promoting to people who are not interested in your niche.
Another Pro Tip: When people like one of your posts, but not your page, you can go to the like section and invite them to like your page.
It is usually not difficult to find multiple pages related to your niche that already have a huge following. You can ask the page admin to promote you on their page. Most of the time, the admin will ask for a fee for doing so, but this is a very cheap way to get more targeted followers on your Facebook page (assuming you are getting charged a fair price).
This method will cost some money, but it definitely works, and it will help you grow very fast. I do recommend that you take it slow at first and experiment with different ads and different content. You will eventually find a fairly low cost way to grow followers. I recommend you use the “Engagement” objective for your campaign.
Your goal in the beginning is to get engagements for your posts; later when you are selling items or have a store or a sales funnel, you can choose a different objective.
You should visit your page – and post content – every day. Ensure your notifications are turned on. And ensure the Facebook’s page manager app is installed on your smartphone. This way, when something happens on your page, you can interact immediately.
You should be posting content on your Facebook page regularly. I recommend you post at least 2-3 quality posts per day. Also, post at times when you tend to get the most engagements on your content (you will likely have to experiment with this).
Pro Tip: Facebook has a scheduling tool. Use it!
To schedule posts, go to Pages > Publishing Tools > Scheduled Posts.
From here you can schedule all your posts.
Finally, make sure you are engaged with your audience! If someone comments or asks a question via messenger, you should respond to them as soon as possible. By the way, Facebook rewards super responsive pages with a badge that displays on their profile.
Facebook has a feature for pages that lets the audience rank the pages. They can also leave their recommendations for the page. Use this feature!
If you are offering quality content, then you can confidently ask your followers to leave recommendations for your page. This will improve your credibility and create trust among visitors to your page. This feature is optional, but highly recommended.
I hope you found this guide helpful. Some of these tips may work better for you than the others, so be sure to test the different methods and figure out what works for you.
