FEED studies underway for PoN’s Clean Energy Precinct

coNEXA is proud to announce a significant milestone in our continued support of the Port of Newcastle’s Clean Energy Precinct (CEP). We have been selected as the successful tenderer to lead the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) for CEP water services. The CEP is essential to the Port’s vision to establish itself as a clean energy hub, enabling the production, storage, and export of green hydrogen and green ammonia.

“We are honoured to be selected for this pivotal role in the Clean Energy Precinct. Our expertise in sustainable water infrastructure, combined with our collaborative approach, make us the ideal partner to support this transformative project.

“Water services for the CEP will build on our history of supplying sustainable water to the Hunter through the Kooragang Island Water Scheme (KIWS). Over the past ten years, this innovative scheme has delivered over 20 billion litres of recycled water to local industry. We are strongly committed to enabling the clean energy transition through ensuring reliable and efficient water services” said coNEXA CEO, Kurt Dahl.

“We are excited to partner with coNEXA as the nominated Water Services Provider for the precinct,” said Craig Carmody, CEO Port of Newcastle. “Their experience delivering complex and integrated infrastructure will ensure the sustainable water services support our progression of the Precinct’s development and help push us further towards hydrogen readiness.”

coNEXA is focused on setting a benchmark for integrated water services across the precinct. Our role will enable us to optimise the overall water strategy for the CEP, including wastewater, tradewaste, recycled water, stormwater, and potable water for offices and buildings.

Achieving the CEP vision will require close collaboration with all stakeholders, including industry partners, government bodies, and the community. The FEED phase is critical to determining the infrastructure and services necessary to advance the Clean Energy Precinct’s development.
